PRESIDENTS BLOG – May 2011

Now the year is well and truly underway. Round 1 of the Zinc 100.7 Sprint series
has been run and won. Congratulation to Brodie Bush for his first outright win.
The new batch of junior drivers did themselves proud with a very polished performance for a batch of first timers.
However, for me, the drive of the night was Brodie’s old man, Allan. In his first event he managed 4th outright, with a great time of 41.9.
Look out all; I think he may just be looking for an outright win.
I think I will just look forward from here. We are now entering the “car show“ period.
Sunday May 29th, cool wheels at Toomulla Beach,
Sunday 12th June is Charters Towers swap meet,
Sunday 19th June is All British Day, Saturday and Sunday July 2nd and 3rd is the Camp Quality Strand Cruise and car show, then we get a rest until September’s Wings and Wheels in Ingham and then our own car show at the strand.
And of course, amongst all of this we have a few other events. An evening social drive on 28th of May, Round 3 of the Sprint series on 25th of June, and a Pubs of Townsville dinner on July 7th at the Centenary Hotel and then a breakfast meeting at the top of Mount Stuart.
So far, our start to the social drives have been a little on the quiet side.

Toomulla Beach Cool Wheels is a good time to get the season going.
As a club we have always been strongly represented at this event. We have won the prestigious club of the show 2 of the last 3 years, and it would be nice to give ourselves a chance to do it again, especially now that we have a club house about to be built. (thanks George) And on that topic, we will most likely call a working bee to assist George with this little project. Did I say little!
That’s it from me for now, see you at the drive day on the 28th.
Zeds Rule (now that I have a couple of them working once again)
Michael
